Early Intervention Service - South CanterburyThis service supports families of infants and young children with developmental needs from birth until school entry.

What is Early Intervention?The focus of Early Intervention is to provide ongoing support, therapy, teaching, assessment, programme planning and information until the child successfully transitions into school. A team of multi-disciplined professionals is formed for each child based on their individual needs and the needs of the family/whanua.

· Occupational therapy
· Physiotherapy
· Speech Language Therapist
· Community Support Coordinators
· Home To Home Coordinator
· Education Psychologist
· Early Childhood centre Staff
To receive this service from CCS you child will need to have;
Significant developmental needs in three or more of these areas that impact on their ability to live an ordinary life and enjoy typical experiences. The child would have a diagnosed or yet to be diagnosed disability or medical condition.>
These needs include:
· Physical
· Social
· Understanding/Thinking/Cognitive
· Movement
· Play
· Sensory Impairment
· Communication
· Self care
How can I be referred?
· Anyone can refer a child to the South Canterbury Early Intervention team, with parents consent
· Referrals are not accepted without signed parental consent
